Contra Costa Times Widget

I made a module to display the front page news stories in the style of the Contra Costa Times. The news category can be changed using the dropdown menu and users can search for stories on the upper right. The widget highlights first story within each section and subsequent article titles are listed underneath. More stories can be seen by clicking on the arrow at the bottom.

Research & inspiration


I wanted the widget to feel standard and embeddable- so I looked at social media modules like Twitter, Facebook and RSS feeds. For in-context inspiration, I looked for pages that used wigetized content like MSN, Lonely planet, iGoogle, The Daily Show, and BBC
